I had a look at font cards in class to get a better understanding of what would work best with my logo. I also did this quick typeface experimentation on illustrator getting a feel for the different structures of the type faces and how they work with my logo. I wanted to communicate through the typography strength, decisiveness and to have a modern element to it ideally a sans-serif typeface.
After a lot of experimentation I was left with Gill Sans and Didot that I felt worked best. Didot gave the logo a lot of personality and character I feel but it seemed a bit out of date. While Gill Sans being a sans serif is more modern, helping the image of the film studio staying contemporary, reflecting on the topics they touch upon. I also liked how Gill Sans is more organic and isn’t as geometric as Futura for example. The capital letters are particularly nice for this typeface as they are influenced by classic serif typefaces and Roman inscriptions leaving the design of Gill Sans looking modern and traditional at the same time.
